A long gruelling week, exams, had tired me out..so when my friend asked me to accompany her for the 3d show of narnia today,i was more than happy about it...it would be a welcome break for me..and watching a movie on 3d is always exciting and enjoyable...with this purpose me and my friend went to watch the noon show at mani square,kolkata..disappointment struck us at the beginning itself as the 3d quality was not upto the mark...the earlier imax presentation however was top class...i wish imax would again be reopened in kolkata,so that we viewers can again watch top class 3d effects...the bad quality of the 3d screens spoiled the charm of the film upto a certain extent..i would strongly recommend everyone to watch this film on 2d screens if the 3d screens are not upto the mark...otherwise the "magic" gets spoiled...despite such a drawback the magic of the film continued unabated...the small girl lucy whom we have seen in the earlier narnia films have grown up to be a most beautiful lady {signs of which were evident from the first movie itself}..edmund have also grown up,but his boyish features still makes him look like a teenager as compared to lucy...as for prince caspian [ben barnes], he has undergone a rapid change from the young chivalrous prince to a responsible king..he has not only matured as an actor, but he looks really handsome as the king of the narnians...reason enough for lucy to ask him in the course of the film whether he has found his queen yet...!! the film starts with peter and susan in america who have grown up and lucy reading a letter from susan telling her about some young gentleman fancying her.however edmund and lucy who is stuck with their disagreeable cousin eustace longs to go back to narnia.eustace scoffs at them when they are heard talking about narnia and it is through a magical painting that they are transported back again in narnia..grunbling and complaining eustace however has the best lines in the film..he has to face a talking mouse, a minotaur and his dialogues are just hilarious...at one point he asks a boat to row itself because he thinks that in a magical land a boat can row itself..in this instalment of the series, the pevensie siblings are not called for help but yet they arrive and help the prince caspian in his search for the seven lords who has pledged allegiance to his father...they stop at lone island where they get separated, and are captured...edmund and the prince one of the lords in the dungeon and he gives them one of the swords.they are rescued by the ship's crew and they go their way again..it is through a series of adventures that they are able to find the rest of the six swords...lucy who has grown up wants to be like her sister susan, and it is through the course of the film that she realises that it is better to be one's real self than becoming someone else...treasure leads to temptations and this is what has to be conquered is shown in the film...the characters overcome this in the course of the film..they try and kill the darkness within to kill the evil lurking outside...the inner self realization of eustace and his belief in narnia is also another point made int he story..the efffects in the film are top notch..and the acting of lucy, prince caspian and edmund is creditable...on the whole it was a thoroughly enjoyable magical ride...and unless you are bored of watching magical films claiming all to be the same,go and watch it...you will feel good after watching the film...its worth a watch...
